Port Phillip Council Election October 2024
We need a better Council…
RHONDA SMALL
for Albert Park Ward
About me
I am a progressive community candidate for the Albert Park Ward. This new ward includes the neighbourhoods of St Kilda West, Middle Park and Albert Park. I believe in the generosity and compassion of our community. A good Council brings us together and actively develops a sense of community rather than seeking to divide us.
Why I am running
I am convinced that we need to build a better Council. A Council noted for competence rather than its failures. A Council with care, responsiveness and a concern for the common good at its centre rather than the constant pursuit of narrow, divisive politics.
I care deeply about our city being a safe, beautiful and fair place for all. Through all my work, I have come to recognise the centrality of listening, respecting diverse views and solving problems based on evidence.
My key policies at a glance
I will work constructively with fellow councillors to make decisions responsibly and equitably for the good of all our community. We must shift the focus on Council from freezing rates and cutting spending to the delivery of efficient, high quality services for our community.
Stronger community services
Community services have been lost or put under threat by our current Council. I am running for Council to re-build our community services.
Climate action now
We must strengthen Council actions to address the climate crisis.
Fairer decision making
I want to put fairness, compassion and support for all community members back at the heart of Council decision-making.
Want to chat about local issues?
I have a coffee most Monday mornings around 10.30 at For Change Café at the Middle Park light rail station. Come and say hello. I’d love to chat about local issues and what is important to you as we head to the Council Election in October.
I acknowledge the Yalukit Willam clan of the Kulin Nation who have cared for the lands and waters of our area for thousands of years, and I pay respect to their Elders, past and present.
